Country Philippines
Period Covered 2000
Associated Consultant Prime Asia Consult Corporation, EDCOP Engineering Corporation
Description

The municipality of Taguig through its mayor the Honorable Ricardo D. Papa, Jr. and the Sangguniang Bayan commissioned Prime Asia Consult in association with EDCOP to prepare the municipality’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP). The municipality of Taguig has a total land area of 4,548 hectares. Much of these lands are presently idle but are ideal for urban development. One of the biggest developments expected in Metro Manila in the 21st century is the 1,626-hectare Fort Bonifacio Development.

The associated firms assembled a multi-disciplinary team comprised of an urban planner, land use planner, environmental planner, transportation planner, infrastructure specialist, and a GIS expert to prepare Taguig’s CLUP.

The CLUP consisted of several reports including the Socio-Economic Profile, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, the Zoning Ordinance, and the Local Development and Investment Plan (LDIP).

Services Provided

The associated firms of Prime Asia Consult and EDCOP engaged the architects and planners of TAM Planners to assist in the preparation of the land use plan, environmental management plan, and zoning ordinance. All these form part of the municipality’s CLUP.

State-of-the-art technology was used to produce accurate maps, and innovative analytical and planning techniques were applied to formulate plans that were truly responsive to the needs of Taguig. To determine the actual needs of the municipality, a consultative process was adopted wherein several opportunities were provided for the stakeholders to participate. There were separate sessions for vision and goals setting, evaluation of development strategies, and the refinement of the land use plan.
